Susan Cannella is a Charlotte native and grew up in the Cotswold area. As a child she cultivated a love for all things homegrown from the many hours she spent picking fruits and vegetables in her father's bountiful garden. After graduating with a degree in Landscape Architecture from Clemson University, she returned to Charlotte and has worked as a landscape designer for 14 years. She and her husband, a landscape architect, have two children and a beautifully maintained yard. Among her friends, Susan is known as the "Jill-of-all-Trades". Whether it's installing light fixtures, building screened porches, or refinishing furniture, Susan is your "handy ma’am". When not ferrying her kids around town, Susan enjoys cooking, gardening, decorating, and anything that involves a sledgehammer.

Helen Denny has lived all over the Southeast, but is happy to make Charlotte her home. She has a degree in Elementary Education from Clemson University and spent seven years cultivating young minds before staying home full time to raise her own crop of kids. She is the wife of a hardworking man and the mother of four children. Helen loves being a stay-at-home mom and finds solace in the garden. No matter how messy the kitchen is or how sassy the children are, her garden is always uncluttered, quiet and polite. What started as a source of fresh vegetables and melons for her family, has become a passion and hobby that Helen hopes to share with others.
The Dirt…addicted to hiring babysitters…at peace with her naturally curly hair…would be happy with an entire garden of okra.
